HAIR EXTENSION CARE & MAINTENANCE GUIDE - Protect your investment and keep your extensions looking beautiful between appointments. If you have recently been serviced by Lioness Hair Design please follow the instructions below:

FIRST 48 HOURS

Do not wash your hair, swim, or excessively sweat (workout) for 48 hours after your extensions installation. This allows bonds, tapes, or wefts to fully set and helps extend the life of your extensions.

BRUSHING

Brush your hair at least twice daily using an extension-safe brush (ask Chelsy if you need a recommendation). Always support your hair at the root with one hand to avoid too much tension. Start brushing at the ends, work your way upward, then finish with a gentle brush from root to ends. Brush before washing, before bed, and before physical activity. A lightweight leave-in conditioner may be used to help with detangling (again, ask Chelsy if you need help picking one).

WASHING

Wash hair no more than 2–3max times per week. Always brush your hair >before< getting it wet. Shampoo the scalp only, gently massaging between extension rows or bonds. Allow shampoo to rinse through the lengths without scrubbing the extensions. Apply conditioner from mid-length to ends only, avoiding attachment points. Use a deep conditioning mask once per week on lengths and ends. Rinse thoroughly and ensure hair is completely dry >before< sleeping.

STYLING & HEAT

Avoid direct heat on bonds, tapes, or wefts. Do not aim blow dryers directly at attachment points. When flat ironing or curling, start below the attachment area. Use a heat protectant on mid-lengths through to the ends. Avoid products containing alcohol, heavy proteins, or sulfates unless recommended by a Lioness Hair Design Stylist (a licensed professional).

ACTIVITIES & WORKOUTS

Always secure hair in a low ponytail or braid before physical activity. For intense workouts, brushing beforehand and using a light leave-in conditioner can help prevent tangling. After sweating, allow hair to fully dry and brush gently.

SWIMMING (CHLORINE, SALT & HOT TUBS)

Before swimming, thoroughly wet hair with clean water and apply a leave-in conditioner to create a protective barrier. Secure hair in a braid or ponytail. After swimming, rinse immediately with fresh water and shampoo and condition as soon as possible to remove chlorine or salt.

SUN EXPOSURE & UV DAMAGE

Prolonged sun exposure can cause dryness, fading, frizz, and tangling. Minimize direct sun exposure when possible. Use a leave-in conditioner with UV protection on extensions. Wearing a hat or protective style is recommended during extended outdoor activities.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Avoid chemical-based sunscreens transferring onto hair, as they may cause unwanted pink or orange discoloration. Mineral sunscreen is recommended. >Never< sleep with wet hair. Using a silk or satin pillowcase helps reduce friction, frizz, and tangling. If you have any questions or concerns, ask your a Lioness Hair Designs Stylist.
